As you read this article, we
have just finished the busy Holiday Season.
Hopefully you had a good Thanksgiving with family
and friends. Right after Thanksgiving came the
extremely important Holiday that Ellen celebrates
with vigor every year. She calls it the
Friday-After-Thanksgiving-Super-Store-Sales-Day.
From early morning until late into the night, she is
spreading joy, promoting happiness and spending our
Christmas money on everything for everybody. There
are deals everywhere! – Or so she says.
Then before you know it,
January 1st is here and we are all
recovering. Some are recovering from a whirlwind of
activity for the past 6 weeks, while others are
recovering from their whirlwind of activity 6 hours
earlier. Now that the holiday season has passed, I
hope that the rest of 2007 brings you joy and
success.
Let take a moment to talk about
Monaco International and you. I‘m sure that this
year will be good to you, and I have some
suggestions on how to make it even better by
becoming involved with Monaco International.
- Make sure you have mailed
in your 2007 dues to Monaco International
- Take time to attended a
Monaco International Rally
Each year, immediately
following the election of officers and directors, a
Nomination Committee is formed to submit a slate of
officers and regional directors for the follow
year. This year, the Committee was chaired by Wilma
Jean Alexander. The members on her committee are
Wilt Greenwood, Layne Strelic, Dick Lennox, and Jim
Lowe. The Committee spent many hours seeking out
the best candidates for the various positions. By
tradition, the future President of Monaco
International seeks the position of Second Vice-
President, then progresses through the positions to
President. The Committee’s Nominee for Second
Vice-President is Don Wyatt. Don’s Resume is
attached to this report. Also attached, is the full
slate of Nominees for 2007-2008. The Nomination
Committee did a great job, and I appreciate their
outstanding effort.
Our next Monaco International
rally will be in Macon, Georgia, from March 13
through March 16, 2007. For a rally fee of $250.00
(for early applications), we have planned a great
rally. There are four breakfasts, four happy-hours,
and four dinners. We have three nights of
entertainment. The first night is a musical variety
act from Nashville. The second night is a comedian
from California, followed by dance music. And the
last night is a show band from North Carolina. In
the afternoons there is entertainment near the
display coaches. During the four days of afternoon
entertainment you will enjoy karaoke, country music,
50s and 60s rock & roll, bag pipes, and some down
home blue grass. As always, the Monaco Technicians
are there to work on your coach, and the display
coaches are inside the convention hall. One last
thought about the dinners, Scott from International
Catering is doing the food preparation, and we have
added a new twist to the evening meal. There are
Seminars, exhibits, vendors, suppliers, and did I
mention new coaches on display. (At this point, you
might be saying; “Hey, you did not explain the new
twist to the evening meal.” Well, I guess you’ll
have to attend the rally to find out!)
We have visited Macon several
times and if you find the time, we recommend the
“Around Town Historic Macon Tours.” There are
several different tours available. The tickets, and
the start of the tours, are at the Downtown Visitor
Center, 200 Cherry St., (478) 743-3401. Some places
to visit include the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame,
the Douglass Theater, and the Georgia Music Hall of
Fame. There are many other places to visit,
including a walking tour of the downtown area.
Ellen and I are spending our
winter in Florida. Enjoying warm weather is our
forte, but to those of you who enjoy snow and
freezing temperatures; I say – Good Luck! Perhaps
we will see you at the Monaco Come Home Rally in
January.
We will see you down the road,
if not before.
Art and Ellen
