If
you are one of us who wait at the mail box for our
latest copy of Lifestyles to arrive, then you are
only days away from enjoying the really great rally
in Macon, Georgia (March 13 -16, 2007). I realized
I have talked about the Macon Rally in past issues,
but did you know… During the open bar from 5:00 to
6:00 pm, we will have a salad bar set up? This
means you can enjoy your salad while others are
going though the food buffet. In addition to
evening entertainment, we have scheduled
entertainers each afternoon in the coach display
area. All parking at the Macon Centreplex is on
blacktop. Each rally attendee will receive a
special gift which may be useful in the very near
future. Last minute applications are accepted, it’s
not too late to have fun at a super-duper rally.
(My note: “super-duper” is my colloquialism for our
really great rally.)
Some people make resolutions
for the New Year. I have been very successful with
my resolutions -- because I never make any.
Therefore, I have never broken a New Year’s
resolution. However, that does not preclude me from
making New Year’s predictions. Before I share my
predictions, you must know that the conclusions are
based on wishful thinking and lucky guessing. But,
since that has not stopped heads of states and
leaders of industry from rendering prognostications;
I thought it is appropriate to share mine.
So, here is one train of
thought. Since the price on a barrel of oil
continues to drop from its all time high; the price
of diesel will drop. If the price of diesel drops,
then motorhomes can travel the country for a lot
less money. Since we have more money to spend,
Monaco owners will rush out to buy new motorhomes.
Selling more motorhomes will mean that the Monaco
stock will go up. The end result is that everyone’s
happy. The new coach owners will be happy, because
they have a Monaco. The folks at Monaco will be
happy, because they are making more coaches.
Finally, the rest of us will be happy because the
price of our stock will go up.
We
attended the Monaco Come Home Rally in Orlando
during the middle of January. It was a “first of
its kind” Come Home Rally. The rally was combined
with Safari, Beaver, Holiday Rambler, and Monaco.
The Monaco brand coaches made up a majority of the
motorhomes in attendance. It was a new experience
to meet and volunteer with folks from other clubs.
Each club has their own way of doing a rally which
turned out to be an enlightening event for
everyone. We made new friends, learned some new
ways, and toured a variety of coaches. Great
entertainment and delicious food highlighted the
three day gathering.
The past year has been very
busy, and has passed very quickly. Ellen and I have
spent many enjoyable hours working on Monaco
International issues. The general meeting in Macon
(Friday, March 16th at 9:30 am) is our
chance to review the improvements; and with your
approval, finish the updating we have been doing
over the past year. See you there.
We will see you down the road,
if not before.
